Children's Alliance Board
Member Advocacy Council
The vision for the Board
Member Advocacy Council is to have at our disposal a motivated pool of Board
members who are up-to-date on critical issues facing the
Alliance
and are prepared at short notice to participate in activities on our behalf.
For instance, if we determine that the perspective of a volunteer Board
member is needed to testify before a legislative Committee, we would have a
number of people ready and prepared. If
we host an event or even a simple visit at a Children’s
Alliance
site or facility, we may determine that the presence of a Board member would be
appropriate. Continuous follow-up
with the next Governor is certainly part of our current strategy and having
experienced and prepared Board members to participate will be most effective.
These are just a few examples of how we can benefit from this Council.
We do not propose to have meetings on a regular basis.
Several planning meetings will be appropriate and periodic gatherings
will contribute to the cohesion of the group, but we do not intend to add
another series of time commitments to the already busy schedules of Board
members. We also do not want to
monopolize the time and efforts of your most effective Board members who should
otherwise be contributing more directly to your Board.
